I am honored to be chosen once again by Fianna Fáil to go forward - TopicsExpress

I am honored to be chosen once again by Fianna Fáil to go forward as a candidate for the upcoming General Election. This is a tremendously important election for the whole country, and especially for Limerick City, where people see no benefit from the recovery that Government repeatedly tells us is underway. The Government obsesses about cuts to the top rate of tax at the very same time as services are collapsing, families struggle to meet basic bills and the number of children in poverty doubles. People hear the Taoiseach talking about being the best little country in the world to do business at the very same time as our children bear the brunt of cuts. We have a Fine Gael and Labour Party with no plan for the present and no vision for the future. Their only focus is how to stay in Government. They have lost touch in record time and broken faith with a public which gave them a record majority. Fianna Fáil here in Limerick City and across the country will be fighting hard in the coming year, demanding accountability for the broken promises and setting out our vision for a fairer future. On one side we have Fine Gael, clapping themselves on the back and running from debate. Beside them, we have a Labour Party devoid of purpose. On the other side we have Sinn Féin and a selection of hard left and hard right independents with no policies or agenda other than to foster division in society. In Fianna Fáil we continue to fight for a strong middle ground, where we foster enterprise and create jobs, but we never forget our obligation to those who need an extra help. We will not be making promises we cannot keep in this election campaign. We will be fighting on a strong positive vision of what this city and this country can be, when fairness is restored to the centre of decision making. I look forward to engaging directly and robustly with my opponents in the months ahead.
