I am not a happy mama. My son went camping with his Boy Scout - TopicsExpress

I am not a happy mama. My son went camping with his Boy Scout troop this weekend. The boys in his patrol knew he needed to be the patrol cook for Saturday. He needs it for rank advancement. He is tending the campfire, is told they will be starting lunch in the next 30 minutes. Yet he misses the chance to cook. No one says hey, were getting started. Or that they want to start. So he doesnt cook. They KNEW he needed to cook. So does he get that requirement signed off? No, because he missed lunch. How hard is it to say lets get started? The fire was on the opposite side of the site, so he is being responsible and watching the fire and they cant call him over? Really. I thought Scouts were supposed to be helpful, courteous and kind. When it comes to him, they arent. I wasnt there. I know there has to be something else I dont know, there always is. But its not their fault if he wasnt keeping track of time. Sorry, that sounds like an excuse to me. You KNOW he needs this, help him out and help him get it. Is that too much to ask? I guess maybe it is. But I thought that was what Scouting was for. Teaching kids the importance of helping others and the world around them. Grrrr.
