I am not a politician, merely a nurse. So theres a lot about running the world I dont know, but nurses do know how to deal head on with disease. When patients have a life-threatening infection, cancer, or other invasive disease, we give antibiotics, chemo, fluids, pressors, whatever it takes to eradicate the threat and save the lives of the patients. Hopefully while preserving the quality of their lives, in the process. That said, I am wondering why the most powerful nation in the world is currently tolerating the beheading of American citizens. Every head that ISIS lobs off is symbolic of my head, your head, your childrens heads. Yet, we have no strategy to meet this threat. Meanwhile, unimpeded, ISIS grows stronger, braver, more aggressive, more barbaric, more deadly . Once-sovereign human beings are right this second, as you are reading this, being starved, slaughtered, tortured, raped, and sold... for nothing more than their beliefs. Can anyone on this planet explain to me WHY this is not being treated aggressively by those we entrust our safety, the worlds safety, to?
