I am often asked the question Why arent you certified organic?. My answer is simple, I grow my products to a higher standard, with out all the bureaucratic regulations, that is required to be certified organic. I feel this has many benefits to our customers as well as me as a producer. First and foremost I feed a high quality feed from Hiland Naturals Feed, that is the only NON GMO Project verified feed company in the country. This certification guarantees that you food will be free of GMO grains and byproducts as well as be free of pesticides and herbicides engineered to work with GMO grain such as Glyphosate. The NON GMO Project requires ongoing genetic testing of product that carry their seal. Hiland Naturals goes above and beyond by routinely having their feeds tested by an independent lab for 100 of the most common agricultural pesticides and herbicides(results from November 2014 posted below from their Facebook page)in addition to the genetic testing required. This isnt something that is required of certified organic producers, and frequently there is contamination.
