I am on my way home. For most of July, I will be staying in Sydney and Newcastle, my mobile phone number is +61 431 672 399. I am very happy to be leaving Eritrea. I need a break. For the past five days I have only had electricity for 5 hours, no exaggeration, there is no explanation, no apologies…people are left to guess the reason and the duration. To recharge, I take my laptop and phone to the gym or to work when the generator is running. This has been the most difficult year in my professional life. Living there does something to probably-otherwise-good people!!! As foreigners we are only just tolerated on an official level, and on a personal level it varies, sometimes good, sometimes not-so-good. I hope I will be doing some busking with John Collins in Sydney. Come and drop $1.00 in the mandolin case, Collo is going to bring sandwiches and fruit for our snacks…but am sure he would offer them for sale at the right price!! We will probably be around Wynyard and the QvB building.
