I am shocked. What has happened to the mindset of some Delhites. There is sudden spurt in the incidents of rape, particularly the incest rapes. Today a six year old was raped by a young neighbor in Khichripur and just two days ago a 9 year old innocent girl of North East fell prey to the ugly mindset of a youth in a south Delhis suburban village under the jurisdiction of Vasant Vihar Police Station, just few meters away from the place of this ugly and shameful incident. The most innocent, fragile and delicate 9 year old was literally by the hair forcibly taken from a chemists shop for this ugly purpose. She is now being treated in a government hospital ins South Delhi and the onlookers who were witness to this shabby incident never raised any alarm nor tried to intervene. The chairperson of the Delhi Women Commission and myself today visited the hospital to know about the well being of the tortured and terrorized girl. She was terror stricken, completely in the dark and shocked. The docters and the psychologists are taken good care of her. Hailing from a hapless poor family this 9 year had come to Delhi with her Mausi to be employed as a help to earn livelihood for her poor parents living in the North Easts distant village. But the fate had something of this sort in store for her. Mrs. Barkha Shukla Singh assured her of her total support of all kinds and even assured to bear her total expenses of her future education in Delhi. Lets pray for the speedy recovery of this innocent girl and stringent punishment to the guilty.AMEN
