I am so sorry that I was too sick to attend the Odyssey of the Mind competition this past weekend. Two of my grandchildren participated in it, and I missed their performances. The more I think of the effort these little guys put into their projects, the more convinced I am that there should be more recognition for all of them. I think everyone should get a ribbon. It doesnt have to be blue, red or white. It could be green or yellow, anything for participation. I know all the theories about dealing with disappointment, being allowed to fail. etc. But these little ones need to know they have great value in putting out the effort to participate in these events. After all they could have just stayed home and played video games.
