I am speaking now as Mrs. Titchell, the substitute. Dear kids, (and I do mean, dear), you know how I love getting the chance to come to the Reynoldsburg schools and visit all of you when your teachers are at the meetings, or their children need them, or they are sick. Tomorrow a lot of substitutes will be there. You will probably not know them. They WILL do it wrong. They WILL say your name wrong. They WILL NOT know where your teacher left off. They WILL say no when you ask to go to the bathroom. They WILL NOT be nice to deal with. I apologize for them. Some are young out of college and they just want a job. Some are out of work for dome reason and just want to work. Most of them do not understand the reasons for the strike. They certainly do not understand how great your teachers are. I cannot be there because I dont want your teachers to feel they are replaceable. However, here is what I request of you kids. Dont be jerks. PLEASE be good! Your principals are so upset about all this. Dont torture them. They were not given choices either. The hiring company Huffmaster and the BOE is who the teachers are upset with. And the teachers do not want to strike. They are sad. They want to stay, but if they do, they accept squeezing more of you into one room, making you take more tests that upset you, because you will be scared if you do bad, your teacher gets fired, and they want a break time to plan all those fun activities they like doing with you. The Board of Education is not being fair. Mrs. Titchell wants you to go to school. She wants you to use your nice words and your manners. She wants you to show your Raider Pride and how grown up you are. Some of the grown ups are acting like kids. I bet you guys know better. This is not your battle to fight. Just follow along and let the grown ups get it over with. Dont risk your reputation by acting up. Be the ladies and gentlemen I have seen you be. Make your parents proud. Make Mrs. Titchell proud. Make Mrs. Dunlap proud and all the other subs that you liked. We will be back soon and so will your teachers.
