I am very upset, as most of you to see a murderer walk free, but I continue to see a lot of hate for the police in a whole, versus directing hate towards the one man who killed. I know there is more than a handful of corrupt cops, but I also know that there is just as many cops who do what they do because they love serving and protecting their country. Being a white male in his early twenties, its really easy for me to be seen as ignorant making this statement because I will never understand what minorities have to deal with when it comes to the police force. But that shouldnt be an issue. If a cop is a good cop he will go out of his way to defend anyone no matter who they are, and I have met/seen many cops who live by this ideology. To summarize my opinion, yes there are bad cops and we need to deal with them, one at a time, but dont let your hate for the bad cops make your view on all of them negative. Acting irrationally towards nice cops is exactly what makes them bad cops. Obey the law. When a cop stops you dont spit in his face and call him a pig. Ask him what the problem is with a decent tone. Be nice. If you a drunk driving and spit in a cops face when he pulls you over, you deserve to be arrested, its no ones fault but your own. He isnt arresting you because hes a corrupt cop, hes doing his job. Now if he pulls you over, without probable cause and beats on you or arrests you for no reason, that is a corrupt cop, and you should always be ready to call for help, set up your phone in your car and record them, whatever it takes. Just dont treat the good cops like they are terrible people because they are doing their job.
