another thing i love about portugal is that they tend to put out on the streets next to the dumpster things that they do not want and sometimes there is some pretty good stuff out there such as slightly damaged luggage or some sewers slightly defaulted clothes i found a perfectly clean and lovely white dress and some nice warm white sweaters. Recently i saw some mattresses were thrown out and since its not so cheap for people to stay out here short term i decided a couch with a pull out bed or extra mattress would be ideal that way pioneers who come to visit us can have the option of staying with us.. Diego was not so keen to collect a mattress from the streets and looked at me as a kind of hobo or garbage forager.. its not a common thing for italians i guess but to us canadians we did stuff like this.. and this mattress had no stains or smells or bugs it was pretty much perfect so i wanted to get it before it rained or some dog decided it would make a good toilet.. Diego did not really want me to get the mattress so i said i will get ann to help me then.. I asked ann to help me and she was willing to struggle with me caring this heavey queen size mattress as the locals watched us with strange looks on their faces as we struggle with this mattress often dropping it, good thing we managed to avoid the dog poop on the side walk.. when diego heard us struggling coming up the road he dumped some water from the second story window on us which was kind of refreshing and funny.. then finally when we got near to the house diego came out to help but the hard part had been done.. I think now he sees that it was a good idea after all to get the mattress as it deff come in handy its super comfortable and clean to.
