I appreciate everyones kind words about Skyler and myself being strong and inspiring but we cannot take credit for it. Our strength is just a testament to the wonderful support system we have. We have always had our families to lean on throughout our lives and they have all stepped up to the plate when we needed them the most. Everyone always uses the saying it takes a village but our family lives by that saying. Skylers mom (aka James Pretty Mama) has been watching James 3 times a week ever since he was born. On the occasions she cant watch him, we are never worried. My dad(aka Pop) is always happy to take over. Skyler and I are always eager to watch our nieces and nephews so our siblings can enjoy a night out and they often times watch James. We are a unit and we function very well. On the day of the accident, Skyler and I were in the hospital tending to our newborn baby, Anthony. The hospital told me they would put Anthony in the NICU so we could both be with James. That night my sister, Lorin, (who has three small children of her own) and mother stayed at the hospital with baby Anthony so he wasnt alone. In Anthonys one month, he has rotated spending the night with my parents, Skylers parents and my sisters. There has not been a single moment from 10am-10pm that Skyler and I have been alone. The first week, we had people here around the clock - sleeping on beach chairs in the hallways. There is always a family member (or 10) here with us. Thank you to everyone who has shown us love and concern. You have made the worst experience of our lives more manageable. You have made us the people we NEED to be for James to be the little boy he is MEANT to be. It is your strength that pours through us. Skyler and I are being so strong for James, but know that behind us is our family- wiping our tears and holding us up. Without them, we would not be the people, or parents, we are. We love you all more than words can ever express. #turtlepower
