I asked this a long time ago and usually think about it every now and then, but what current players right now do you think will be in the Hall of Fame someday? You can include shoe-ins, people on the bubble that will get in, and dark horses. Ill even include the people I think that will be in the Ring of Honor soon: -QB: Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady. Arguments: Eli is not as good as Peyton, but I believe the Giants will win another Super Bowl by the time he retires and possibly at least be in another. -RB: Adrian Peterson, Frank Gore, Steven Jackson, LeSean McCoy. Arguments: I see Chris Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew slowing down; I think the same could happen with McCoy, but have a feeling hell be in there with a smart coach like Chip Kelly. -WR/TE: Tony Gonzales, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Jimmy Graham, Antonio Gates, Marques Colston, Anquan Boldin. Arguments: Wayne, Colston, and Boldin will probably have to wait a long time. Colston and Wayne have benefitted from having HOF quarterbacks throw to them, but Boldin has been consistent with many different coaches and teammates with three different teams. -OL: Not too knowledgable since what tangible statistic can you go by? Sacks allowed? That can be more subjective than other statistics and some linemen might have fewer sacks than a superior counterpart because they have a greater supporting cast of linemen, quarterbacks, or running backs with them. -DL: Mario Williams, John Abraham, Jared Allen, DeMarcus Ware, Kevin Williams. Arguments: Have a feeling that Williams will reach 100 mark and garner player respect. I think if Julius Peppers gets 130 sacks then he will get in, but right now no. I think Gerald McCoy will be good, but if he gets another injury that could make him just only a good player. -LB: Terrell Suggs, Luke Kuechly, Patrick Willis. Arguments: Im not putting Lavonte David here because even though he is an All-Pro I feel like my homer is hoping for that. -DB: Darrelle Revis, Ed Reed, Champ Bailey, Asante Samuel, Troy Polimalu, John Lynch, Ronde Barber. Arguments: I think itll take some time for Lynch and Barber to get in, but that they will based on players respect and how good they were for how long they played. Samuel is the bubble of all bubbles on this whole list. -ST: Devin Hester, Adam Vinateri. Arguments: How many Super Bowls has Vinateri won for his teams? How many games has he won for his teams? How many has Devin Hester won single-handedly? If these guys never make it in then that would be a shame because they were, are, and will be for a few more years the best at what they do. Ring of Honor: -James Wilder, Mike Alstott, Hardy Nickerson, Tony Dungy, John Lynch, Ronde Barber, Jon Gruden, Shelton Quarles, Monte Kiffin, Brad Johnson, Doug Williams, Michael Spurlock. Arguments: Wilder was the team in the 80s. Kiffin had so much support here that the fans will want him in, just like they want the quarterback who won the Super Bowl to be here. Williams will be miffed that he wasnt the first quarterback in, but hell get in. Dont get me started on Michael Spurlock - for those who know me, long story short: hes severely underrated. I wrote a rant, but then realized it sounded like a Michael Spurlock: A Hero In Bucs Lore class lecture.
