I attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph, in - TopicsExpress

I attended the Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph, in Bobcaygeon, this morning. It was stirring and emotional, and an honour to be a part of a tribute to all who have served. To the memory of those who lost their lives as well as those who returned. To those who endured horrors, unimagined in places far away from home. Those who lived with the memories of battle, the loss of family and comrades in arms. Experiences, in spite of historical accounts, film representations, and listening to family and friends recount their own personal experiences, I will never be able to fully comprehend. I am fortunate that I have not had to face such experiences in my life, for that I offer my thanks to all who served, even though I feel it is nowhere near enough of an expression of my appreciation. I am not sure, unless one has experienced those horrors, one can fully appreciate the sacrifices made. I, also, feel a moment of remembrance, and thanks, is due to those who stayed behind, Wives, mothers, sons and daughters, who were also a part of those struggles for freedoms and rights. I cant even begin to express any of that appreciation with the clarity I feel it deserves. I am thankful to have been raised in a time, and in a country, that allows me the freedom to express this jumbled attempt at saying thank you, as inadequate as I still feel it is, I say. Thank You
