I bet Billy Oconnell will love this, this morning. I posted this on the more eclectic 1960s fb group (more than just music) Im a member of this morning, and just thought that it would perfectly here as well and so before I do leave later and not able to get back, on fb, until sometime later today here is my contribution here for now. One of the female solo artist and her stable duo of writers, the great Burt Bacharach and Hal David, who was having going to have a good fall of 50 years ago (the fall of 1964) was the always elegant Dionne Warwick who had her third album, Make Way for Dionne Warwick (also produced by Bacharach and David) be released on August 31st, 1964. The first two of three the songs released from the album actually became a double-side hit, with Youll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart) becoming the bigger of the two as the A-side hit and it shows why, below the image of the album cover, in a video of a live Paris performance of the song in 1966. The B-side was also not one that slouched for the three of them, A House is Not a Home which since Dionne Warwicks original version has become one of the most covered songs in the Bacharach/David song book collection. But wait until you see and hear and more importantly listen to the second video of how Warwick sings, emotes and phrases her original version of A House is Not a Home, live in 1964, one of the most soulful performances you could ever find:
