I bought a subscription to Discovery Education for my kids and its been awesome! Today though, I thought Id review some of my biology. Alas, I came across a video called Benefits and Drawbacks of Vaccines. It discussed how President Ford in 1976 signed and paid (with tax money) for the Swine Flu vaccine for anyone that wanted it. It was a supposedly deadly strain and they feared it could cause an epidemic. So, what happened? The fear caused the US to rush the vaccine into production. Over 500 people came down with a serious and debilitating side effect that can occur with any/all vaccines called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (muscle weakness, paralysis, etc). 30 people died from the vaccine. And what of that deadly flu? It never panned out, one person died from the flu. I wonder how many people will die from the Ebola vaccine after its rushed through the clinical trials?
