I busted my ass to become an established producer because I wanted to spend all my available time helping artists become all that they can be. Its a lot more than the number of studio hours - I want to see artists I am honored to work with grow and develop into the acts they want to be, whether thats a rising force in the scene or an enjoyable hobby for them and their friends. I wont resort to the clock or a bullshit hourly rate when it comes to making a band happy and being there for everything I can be, even things that have nothing to do with recording. If you call yourself a producer but you wont put your ego aside to be there for the bands that allow you to call yourself a producer, hang it up. Dont pollute this industry.
