I came across this video clip today. It’s an interview in which Fox News’ Lauren Green speaks with religious scholar and professor Reza Aslan, the author of the new book “Zealot: The Life And Times Of Jesus of Nazareth”. Now, the first thing to remember is that Green is nowhere as educated on the subject as the man she’s interviewing. He holds four degrees in his field. Despite that fact, one that Green would have known going into the interview, Professor Aslan is forced to repeatedly list his credentials, which transforms the interview from the subject of his work to whether or not he possesses the qualifications required to write it. Yesterday I touched on the acceleration of the demotion of reason prevalent in our society over the last decade. Ignorance has always lashed out at that which threatens the false sense of security that it provides, which is what makes this interview rather symbolic. youtu.be/AQhMllQ-ODw
