I cannot claim to be highly knowledgeable of the Bible, but there is one verse at least that is ever in my heart and mind, guiding my inner life. It reminds me that love is patient, love is kind, love is never-ending... It has accompanied my posts here before, and now again plays through my thoughts in refrain as I dance and reflect upon this offering of prayer for a dear friend and her departed husband on the occasion of their anniversary. They were married 20 years ago, and he passed away the following year. My friend knew when she took her vows as a young woman that this was all the time they would have, and she so valued their love that she chose to honor it with her fullest commitment in the eyes of God, cherishing every moment they had together. She still lives that love and faithfulness to God and her husband. The eternality of their soul connection is perceptible in her presence. I feel blessed to have been touched by it as well, as I danced for them. I could feel the blessing of the love they lived together, their gratitude, her separation from him, the tie nonetheless intact between them, his presence with her, the continued flow of their reciprocation, their uninterrupted dedication to God and each other, and the pleasure they bring to God through such sincere faithful love. I could feel as I danced the reality that love is never-ending.
