I cannot describe to you how incredible Alejandro Inarritus Birdman is. Keaton is my Batman and I stubbornly hangon to him. I watched him incessantly as a child, and then he dissapeared. I havent read the backstory on how this film came to be with Keaton at the forefront, but its impossible not to watch it and see all of those invisible years glaring at you. Keaton is playing himself. I allowed him to be a separate character, and kept an open mind and failed. This movie could give you a heart attack. If you are a theatre artist, it will give you a heart attack. If you have anything to do with the theatre, this movie will feel like a gift. You really see the amazing talent of all these actors, whove already made names for themselves, but because the movie is comprised of insanely long Tartakovskian takes you really see them at their finest. They cant hide! There are cuts, but you have to trrrry to find them. I really appreciate that in a film, it assures you that theres alot on the line and the actors are giving it. Birdman is Death of a Salesman. I wanna posit this before anybody else. If Loman were an actor trying to make a comeback for his own redemption and salvage what he could between he and his daughter (sry Biff), and all the humiliation that comes with begging, etc. Just wanna posit that before any of you see it. Tell me what you think. If Inarritu came to Keaton and said this your chance to be Loman, Keaton succeeded. Fin.
