I cant begin to express how powerful last nights First Thursdays event on Church Square was. I havent attached an image because there simply isnt an image that can capture what transpired. All I can share is this: - There is tremendous power in public spaces (because you cant always choose who comes and goes) - The fact that you cant choose who comes and goes allows for a kind of collision that is magical (not always, but sometimes, but that sometimes is worth it when it happens) - Dialogue and discussion is such a fantastic way of healing wounds (individually as well as as a nation - whatever nation you are a part of) - Jacqui ThePoet Dichabe is a modern day heroine! Non-negotiable - Craigieji Makhosi Im glad you were part of my evening - to think it was completely impromptu! - I am falling in love with Cape Town again because the in-your-face racism and classism and all other isms fuel me like I could never imagine was possible. Those not-so-pleasant things that I cant avoid seeing open up a place within me and around me to interrogate them. Exhausting but so important!
