I cant claim to have been a huge Robin Williams fan, or that knowledgeable about his career, but the news of any human being making THAT decision is heartbreaking. To do that, to leave everything behind in the world - well, the amount of pain that someone has to be in to make that choice is something that is hard to conceive. Yet it happens every day, be it to a friend, a celebrity or a complete stranger, and more often than not, its surprising because people are suffering in silence. Chances are, someone you know is going through hell right now and probably for reasons they cant express, or are scared to, or, perhaps, simply dont want to. In a world where atrocities are being committed everyday and murder is taking place in numbers that can never seem real, it may seem strange that something like this should matter; it may seem trivial by comparison. Its not the case - depression, and its inevitable end, are things that we can grasp, we can relate to, and unlike many other horrors, things we see every day. It makes them human pains, it makes them pains we can grasp. Be nice, and look out for the people in your life. It might not make a difference most of the time, but every once in a while, it will.
