I cant think of any of humanitys problems that was solved by faith. Faith didnt eliminate small pox. It didnt eradicate polio from most parts of the earth. Faith didnt enable us to grow food in arid lands. It didnt give us the tools we use to detect approaching storms so we can prepare for them and thus minimize their potential for damage. Faith wasnt a factor in the dramatic decrease in infant mortality that humanity has experienced over the past century. Faith didnt enable us to build earthquake resistant structures that save lives. It didnt open up the mysteries of the cosmos, allowing us to understand the motion of objects, including our own earth. Faith didnt give us the ability to communicate with each other instantly, from almost anywhere on the planet, and even beyond. Instead, faith has been a hindrance in every step of the way, erecting obstacles on the road to human progress and enlightenment. Every step of the way to human enlightenment, has been at the expense of faith. Every modern convenience that we enjoy today, we do so because someone, at some time in the past, decided that faith was not the answer, and decided to search for a true understanding of reality. Why do we need faith? Why is it respected?
