I consider myself a pretty spiritual person. Ive felt connected to - TopicsExpress

I consider myself a pretty spiritual person. Ive felt connected to God in Buddhist Temples, Mormon Stake Centers, while being baptized and born again in the ocean in South Africa. I pray nightly with my spouse who offers a Christian prayer up to God and the universe. I was raised Catholic, married in a Shinto shrine, studied Scientology, meditated in silence for weeks amongst yogis, then spent years interviewing some 300+ of the worlds leaders in spirituality and personal development. And I admit, I even tried balancing my chakras! ;-) I have seen God in the intricacies of a flower, the perfectly designed toes of an infant and the little window to infinity we call the pupil in every living creature Ive ever observed. And in all my explorations, I think the closest thing I have ever found to an easily and universally digestible spiritual text is the book, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. If you havent read it yet, get it. If you have read it, let me know what you thought of it. Its a story of ethics, integrity--the importance of staying true to your own goals and dreams and trusting yourself or how God lives through you. Its about persistence, and what it takes to rise up in the face of adversity. Its about faith, hope AND love and all the same things spiritual and religious texts have been talking about for thousands of years. But the fact that its served up in a short fictional story that takes about 4 hours to read, means I dont think people will feel the need to be right about it.
