I debated on posting this or not. I witnessed something today that I really thought most people were above. This poor woman was mocked and humiliated today by a customer and sales clerk at a store in Winslow. She brought in her service dog that was on a halter and the service clerk glared at her. The Lady reassured her that the dog was a service dog (that was obviously well behaved) The other customer made a loud statement I thought all dogs for the handicap should were vests but thats just me Her and the sales clerk laughed at the woman. I went up to the woman who was bright red and on the verge of tears. Turns out the dog was for her epilepsy and didnt like having the vest on him because people get nosy and she wants to live her life. This woman knows what to do when an attack is coming because her dog lets her know and she can say something about it before her seizure hits. I stayed with her until she felt composed. There are laws to protect people from this kind of humiliation and as far as I know they do not have to be marked but in only certain places. I was ashamed of these 2 women. I wanted to cry and make everything ok for this other woman who had been victimized with no apology. I was embarrassed that this woman was visiting our beautiful Island and was treated so horribly. I just hope she remembers that not all of us are like that.
