I did a 103-mile ElliptiGO ride this morning, after just 3 hours - TopicsExpress

I did a 103-mile ElliptiGO ride this morning, after just 3 hours of sleep. The clocks moving forward meant an hour less sleep - and an extra hour of riding in the dark. I like it when its still dark - and I never tire of watching the daybreak in the deliberate solitude of the open road. The summer time-zone also means I get to see the sunrise in a different part of the countryside, which keeps things interesting. My heart rates have dropped considerably as my cardiovascular system gets increasingly fitter and its almost impossible to get into that 130-140 bpm heart rate zone Ive been using. I am still restricting my max heart rate to 140 bpm on the hills, but on less-challenging terrain Im recording rates in the low 120 bpm range (average for the whole ride was 128 bpm). Its probably time to step up to a higher intensity level now, but unfortunately that will have to wait, because for the next 2 weeks work-related travel will make weekday riding impossible for me and I will only be riding on Sunday next week - and then the Sunday after that (with nothing in between). From mid-April things should be back on track and Ill look to build up to May being the most brutal training month in my Mille Cymru training programme. But for now Im taking the family out for a mothers day lunch - and Im sure you can guess wholl be eating the biggest burgers.... Happy mothers day everyone!!!
