I did not expect much taking Champ out. A brown dog on a brown blanket. So poised and calm in his kennel, though, unlike so many other pooches in his vicinity. Too much sun outside for good photos...How wrong I was..not about the weather but about Champ.... Champ is a gorgeous and attractive young man, clad in a dark chocolate well groomed coat, shining golden reflections in the daylight. He looks like a sculpture, perfectly chisseled. His eyes express so many emotions, excited, happy, sweet. He is such a great dog to spend time with...Just give him a chance and you will see what I am talking about. Champ is leashed easily, pulls slightly and eliminates in one stop as we leave the building. He is at his best free in the yard. I knew he had his eyes on the balls I had just brought in the pen. He was waiting like a goalie, sitting in anticipation, his eyes all shiny, his mouth open. I picked up a ball, showed it to him, threw it in the air and Champ ran and leaped very high to catch it. He is a pro and never fails to bring the ball back to me. He lets it go although he loves to chew and chew on it to produces a tennis ball that looks like a pancake, whipped in white foam... Champ is very friendly and sociable, welcoming other people coming to say hello. He loves to sit on the bench next or behind me and chew on his ball. Petting is complimentary of course and very much appreciated by Champ who is quite an affectionate dog. Needless to say that Champ is my champion. Someone else here at the care center saw that first and gave him that name. Champ was found as a stray but was cared for quite outstandingly until his abandonment. He is at the Manhattan Care Center, hoping to make an owner proud and happy to choose him as his or her forever best friend.
