I do not read the Persian language. But I just managed, after hours of work, to translate a sentence in Persian but printed with the Western alphabet, and also to transliterate it back into the Arabic-based Persian language. Heres the paragraph that took hours of work: Curiously, the Persian Diatessaron has Jesus say in 15:1 not “I am the true vine”, but ﻣـاـن ﺩـرـاـکــحــطى ﻣـوـاﯽ ﺭـاـثــطـى. This has been rendered into English as “I am the tree of the fruit of truth” (Craig D. Allert) and, adhering more closely to the word-for-word meaning, as “I am the fruit-tree of truth” (Robert Murray, translating the Italian of Guiseppe Messina). However, a careful rendering of the suffixes has the Persian saying “I am the fruit of the tree of truth”. This version of 15:1, as an obvious reference to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil forbidden to Adam and Eve (Genesis 2:17), supports the conclusion above, based on Horace’s poetry, that Jesus was speaking of himself in terms of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This Diatessaron is a 13th century version of an early Syriac text that retained many readings from Tatian’s original 2nd century Diatessaron, now mostly lost. Whether this version of 15:1 comes from Tatian or an inventive scribe later on we can only guess. A diatessaron is a single work that draws together the four canonical gospels into one narrative.
