I do not understand. If you treasure something, why is it that, - TopicsExpress

I do not understand. If you treasure something, why is it that, more often than not, you take it for granted? This is rhetorical so please I ask that no one try to assign this to themselves or to someone else. I was just thinking about humanity...the way we humans operate sometimes. Common sense dictates that if something means something to us we take care to make a place for that something in our lives. If you think about it, and so few of us do, you will realize that a good thing will not remain in a bad place. Sooner or later all the things that we fail to do to nurture that one special thing we want to keep will finally topple the whole house of cards for us. I was looking at my nephews car today, more specifically the engine. He was tweaking something and I noticed just how clean he keeps the engine and the entire engine compartment. He wants to keep his car in outstanding condition in spite of the fact he knows he is ultimately putting more and more mileage on it. He maintains his vehicle inside and out, not just cleaning it but also doing all the many little and bigger things that he could take for granted but doesnt. He knows that if he is lazy and never gives special attention to what matters he will jeopardize the lifespan of the very thing he wanted in his life in the first place. We must take care to see what needs to be done with our cars, our relationships, our lives, and our spirituality. We cant wait for someone to direct us. If the car needs an oil change, get that car some new oil. If it is low on fuel, fill it up before the gauge redlines and you are left stranded on the side of the road. If the car has to find a way to tell you what it needs, you have let things go too long more than likely. For heavens sake we need not wait until the car is broke down before we attempt to fix it. If it makes a noise...listen...and dont take for granted that it will run another 50 thousand miles before you address the situation. The end.
