I dont get why people hate the Star Wars prequels. Yes, the acting sucks (except for Ewan McGregor), but the originals had some pretty crappy lines too (Im Luke Skywalker, Im here to rescue you!) Also, the prequels had more interesting and emotional characters, while the original trilogy characters were almost too perfect to be real. In the original trilogy, there is good and evil and no moral ambiguity. The rebels just have to blow up all the death stars and kill storm troopers and then everybody lives happily ever after. In the prequels we are kind of sympathetic to Anakin, but we know how evil he will become so we cant support him completely. We watch as his anger and sadness consumes him and turns his love for Padme into a force of evil. The prequel trilogy also explores political corruption and shows the rise of a totalitarian government. And the special effects in the prequels are indisputably better. The original trilogy doesnt have any scenery to match Coruscant or Naboo. Overall, neither the prequels nor the original trilogy have great acting or screenwriting, but thats not the point.
