I dont know how wide spread this is but heres a friendly warning to whom ever reads my wall. I received a call today that my credit card account had been blocked and that I needed to enter the card number into the phone in order to reactivate it, because it was an automated voice it seemed legit. Thank goodness Im a skeptic, and also that I didnt know my number by hart, but their are those especially after just waking up arent going to be as such, I hung up to get my card number and just decided to be all like hay lets see if this number that just called me matches the customer service number on my card its self. Also another few good ways. 1.) Quite possibly the easiest way by far but I almost fell for it so... (YOUR CARD COMPANY WILL NEVER CALL YOU.) Not specifically, and only for call back, a confirmation you set up to have them call you back and tell you things you need to know probably done in the last few minutes, NEVER EVER DO THEY JUST RANDOMLY CALL YOU. 2.) If the auditory voice ask for your card number let that be a RED FLAG, as for privacy they never ask your account information unless YOU CALL THEM, and thats just to prove who you are, not to be used to reactivate your account. 3.) Almost all actual businesses, customer service numbers are 1-800 numbers, that seems a duh moment but we leery as any other digit like say 1-813 to some may be considered an 800 number but its not the fact it has any other numbers in the digit makes it an area code before the actual number like for Arkansas its (479). That means you were in this case called by a building within Florida not a business that doesnt have an area code and is just a call center. You were just called by a place, a real person using a scam. SO BE CAREFUL.
