I dont know if people understand how terrifying it is that neo-Nazis rule Ukraine now. Ukraine is no Germany in terms of its industrial and military capacity, but it does have the capacity to ignite a new world war. I will repeat for emphasis- Nazis rule a country again. Fascists have achieved the seizure of state power for the first time since the last World War, with US and German backing. Like-minded fascist movements are gaining ground across Eastern Europe. The failure of the capitalist experiment of the EU has spread the seeds of fascism and the decay of capitalism will give them more and more influence where the communists of those countries do not successfully organize for the defeat of the ascendant extreme right wing. Are those communist parties prepared for the task of fighting fascism? I dont believe they are as able to do so as they were in the 1920s and 30s- and then, too, they were defeated. Eurocommunism and reformism weigh heavily on the respectable left wing in Europe, and they lack the fighting spirit and strength to stop the tide of reaction which is sweeping Europe. We revolutionaries are the last force on Earth with the potential to stop a new world war before it starts, a world war which would leave the prior two in the shade and make them look like gentle diplomacy in comparison. Whether or not we can do it remains to be seen. It falls to us to awaken the sleeping anti-war masses of people to the looming and immediate danger of apocalyptic war, and to show them the way to prevent it.
