I dont know what to say. I do not condone the F*ck the police attitude. Id hate to be boo-ed while Im doing my job. But with the kind of aggression that the cop exhibited, he was pretty much asking for it. First off, he read the MTA Guidelines that clearly states that he is permitted to perform (artistic expression). And to top that, he had grabbed the mans hand several times to stop him from playing his guitar and even forcefully take it away from him. It seems to me that the situation escalated because the musician questioned authority. Yes - people can be rude and the younger generation (and maybe, people in general) have a pesky habit of questioning authority. I believe we are allowed to do that. And people of authority has this immediate need to exert that authority when facing a backlash to make an example out of this man? BULLSHIT. Perhaps, the #NYPD should invest their time/money/efforts into educating their officers as to when/whom intimidation tactic should be used OR focus on your officers psychological well-being. They dont seem to know what to do when someone questions them/argues with them. But then again, Id never read a story anywhere where you win with the cops.
