I dont think many of my friends on here actually watch the Marvel and DC comic book movies but I want to get this out there anyway because its a perfect summation of why I prefer DCs movies over Marvels. On comicbook, in an article about Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn discussing which scene in the film was the most difficult to write and direct, he said the scene where Ronan meets Thanos was the hardest because he didnt want Thanos to belittle the movies big bad Ronan. And someone made this great comment in response to another: WarbirdX said ... (original post) Perhaps if you dont want to belittle your big bad, dont have him look distracted and confused at the moment hes going to destroy a PLANET by one guys little dance. What are you doing!? What does Ronan care what Starlord is doing at the moment he was going to end him? Because comedy. Thats why I dont like Marvel movies as much as DC, despite Marvel being more successful (for now). Because theyre too lulzy and many things dont make sense in the context of the story, theyre just shoe-horned in there because comedy. DCs darker tone and more serious approach is much more to my liking. I can watch their films and not have to worry about the dramatic tension suddenly being shattered by some goofball who starts dancing just to make the kids in the audience laugh.
