I feel like I jinxed us..Last Monday, Sami was admitted again for a central line infection. After a lot of back and forth with the team, it was decided on Friday, to remove her central line and place a new one later this week. If we are lucky, and infectious disease agrees to it, we may be able to have it done on Wednesday and go home later that afternoon, just in time for Thanksgiving. If they are not agreeable to that, then the new line would be placed Friday and go home on Saturday. We are hoping that by putting a new line in, there are no bacteria in her system and we will be able to go infection free for quite some time before we end up back here due to infections. I must say, I would much rather be here for transfusions any day of the week! Because this is the third infection, in the span of 3 months, its getting harder for Sami to bounce back. She has been clear (meaning fever free) since Wednesday, but still is napping two to three times a day for a couple hours, plus all night. As always, she is a trooper and is handling things like a champ, but we could always use prayer and good thoughts that the remainder of the stay is smooth.
