I fell asleep last night with a playlist on repeat… I woke up - TopicsExpress

I fell asleep last night with a playlist on repeat… I woke up multiple times and every time the same song was on. When I wasn’t awake I remember having beautiful dreams with the same song playing. This same song was in my head while I was getting ready; I drove to work with this song playing on repeat. The lyrics stir up feelings that words cannot describe but I couldn’t help but try to write them down… my mind is spinning with so much emotion that it has been hard to put them into words but here is my attempt intertwined with the lyrics I have been singing all morning. How Great Thou Art “O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;” Wonder: a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable. (google, n.d.) The universe and everything it contains is a vast expanse that we can find no beginning or end to. To be able to consider/ponder that Earth is only a tiny speck in this universe and that out of the entire universe Earth and mankind was Gods focus form the beginning of time as we know it, and remains His focus… that leaves me with a feeling of wonder. “I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed.” These phenomena are not unique here on earth but occur throughout the entire universe. What is unique is the fact that we get to experience them, take in the wonder and majesty of it all. We are the only creation that has the ability to process what we witness. We get to pause, ponder, and praise God for these miniscule examples of the power He holds… His true power we cannot even fathom because there is nothing and no one with power that equals His! “Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!” Our physical shell desires to connect with this physical world, to live in the now, to achieve instant gratification. It is our physical self that influences our decisions and separates us from God. But, it is our soul that cries out to God, it is our soul that yearns to be closer to our Almighty Creator, it is our soul that connects with Him and receives His guidance to navigate us through this world. “When through the woods, and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.” Experiencing nature free from the cares of the world that we have created for ourselves, taking time to forget about ourselves for a moment and instead see this beautiful creation for what it is, allows us to recognize and appreciate the wonderful gift of life we have been given; a gift unique to us, a gift no other created being has the ability to experience in quite the same way… These reminders fill me with emotions that I cannot express in any other way than praising our Creator… “Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!” “And when I think of God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.” We can sacrifice ourselves for one another, give our lives out of love for the life of another; it happens everyday… Public Service personnel, Military personnel, Good Samaritans; lives are lost everyday to save and protect the lives of others. No matter the sacrifice we make, it does not compare to the sacrifice Christ made on the Cross. He came for one reason and one reason only, to free us from the bondage of sin. He hung on Cross as the ultimate sacrifice for mankind, to bridge the gap between us and our Creator, to restore the relationship we were meant to have with Him. When Jesus cried out “It is finished” (John 19:30, NIV), He declared to Satan that we are His and always have been. Jesus’ resurrection showed that the grave had no power over Him; that which He created could not hold Him and therefore could no longer hold His children. This causes my soul to cry out in adoration and thankgiving… “Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!” “When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: ‘My God, how great Thou art!’” When Christ returns in all of His glory and authority, this world as we know it will pass on and we will reside in His majesty. The cares of the world will fade and be no more, there will be no more pain or sorrow, instead we will only know peace and joy as we have never experienced before. Our days will be filled with rejoicing and singing praises to the King of Kings… “Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!” youtube/watch?v=pLLMzr3PFgk
