I felt all panicky. You know, the regular stuff: heart racing, palms sweating...maybe even a little faint. Last time he was assigned snack in pre-school I was totally prepared. But at the time my funny little boy thought the gold-fish crackers were show-and-tell and refused to share them. Yesterday I forgot to send a baby food jar for a craft project, and I just knew his teacher would think I was the lamest mom on Earth. After all, Ive already had to back out of driving last minute to a field trip (sigh), and my 4 year old spells his name GOEffrey instead of GEOffrey (for which Ive been encouraged to help him fix). I frantically search the cupboards: nothing. I open the fridge. My eyes light up, How about string cheese? I ask, hopeful that hell forget he doesnt like it. Well, that boy of mine has a mind like a trap. He did NOT forget! Down to the food storage room we walked, he and I. Hand in hand we entered while I silently prayed that there would be something other than wheat to send to his class. And the heavens parted and the angels sang. Hallelujah! Ritz crackers sitting on the shelf for the win! Crisis averted.
