I find it so frustrating, depressing, enraging, and defeating when listening to white American media and private citizens express their clueless opinions and biases when it comes to young men of color. White privilege allows white America to live in a make believe bubble in which everything that happens to a person of color is well deserved because the world is perfect. Young men of color cannot dress in certain ways, express their dissatisfaction or frustration, play loud music, run away from a stranger, stand in their own parking lot, etc. without fearing that either a private citizen and/or the police officer, paid to so call protect them will take their life. Only to then have their names dragged through the mud by the media and be blamed for their own murders. This is a reality no white parent, or white child has to experience. Even though I am fully aware that the racial factors of these issues are constructed by a structural entity to create separation, and that there is a bigger agenda behind these distractions, it does not ease the frustration. We are all victims of the same plague. Not just the victims, but those committing the atrocities; victims of the same social plague that the powers that be have been promoting for thousands of years. When will all this madness end. Rage will not fix the problem, and close minded dialogue will only add fuel to the fire! This can make a sane man go mad! This is also frustration to the violence that we bring to ourselves. David Banner made a very good point. The fact that we kill ourselves, and police officers and white citizens find it so easy to kill us stems from the same root! The fact that to the life of a person of color is somehow worthless or less important than the rest. This is what we have been taught since grade school. We are bombarded by this ideal on television, music, and pop culture. They raise us idolizing violence (particularly directed at those who look like us), death, and destruction. We need to start taking accountability for our own and we need to start mobilizing and demanding a change in government. A change of the guard is needed if there is ever going to be change and the only way to achieve that is through educating each other and becoming involved. This is a challenge I have to demand of not America but of myself. We will never make it without each other. White, black, brown, yellow, red, etc. We are all a part of the same machine. Without one, the whole structure will collapse!
