I find myself really wanting this not to be true and quietly looking away because Woody Allen is one of my favourite film makers. Then I realise that this attitude contributes to how celebrities and other people in power get away with abuse. Presumed innocence is his fundamental right but I cant get past the fact that if he was someone I respected less (e.g. John Key or Michael Bay), or if Dylan Farrow was someone I knew personally who came to me with this story, I would totally believe her and encourage her to press charges. The original trial never happened because prosecutors didnt think a traumatised 7 yearold could cope with the trial. It is crazy that the statute of limitations prevents charges being laid now so there is no way for either Dylan to get justice or Woody to clear his name.
