I forgot who said it, it was probably JPII, but in giving - TopicsExpress

I forgot who said it, it was probably JPII, but in giving ourselves to someone, a spouse, we truly find ourselves. Sounds right. Paradoxically, like in losing myself to save it. And I think weve lost it. As a group. As a people. Westerners. Weve forgotten that this is true. Identify is found primarily with your family. Why else do children of sperm donors want to know who their parents are? But weve lost this sense. Then we lost connection with God. Then beauty. Then goodness. Then truth. And to suppress our alienation from one another, we emphasize our individualism. We are all unique. We are orphans. Weve devolved into a civilization of nomads. Hooray... And with our self imprisonment, weve built ugly buildings that functions like the prisons, throw some pastel colors on it, and call it modernism. We sin, and demand others to encourage their sin, and call it tolerance. Any speak of truth is hardly coherent to the ears abandoned children of this age. its a bad joke, but we distract ourselves from it. Right, woody Allen? But good news: Thats as bad as it gets. Because you can only suppress it, and never extinguish it, the human spirit. Every now and again, particularly in this time of year, you can lay underneath the fall colors of a tree and feel the warmth of an orange sky sunset, and the beauty of this world is a lantern leading you back home, to the good and the true, to God. And we sing, in your love, my salvation lies in your love...lie with me friends underneath an orange sky. And well remember who and what we are.
