©I get calls and emails just about every day from people looking for a business plan. Some clients are in need of a compass to guide them so they ask for a plan to be written for that purpose. Other clients come in need of a business plan in order to get working capital to either fund their startup operations or fund the expansion of their existing business. Regardless of their needs I am always willing to comply and look forward to assisting them. Earlier this week I got one of those emails that eventually turned into one of those calls. We talked for roughly 30 minutes before the potential client said, “Well I have read up on you and your business and I am impressed Lynn. I have also reviewed the samples you submitted and it’s obvious you know what you are doing but before I make a final decision about which way to go…I need to speak to my partner”. It was totally understandable and to be honest, it caused me to look at him in a different light. I already had a measure of respect for the man based on the way he addressed me and his general conversation. But when he said he needed to speak to his partner, I knew he was the real deal. He eventually called back and said the project was a go and he said something else that was more telling. He said, “We are in this thing together brother. I’m his partner and he’s my partner and we don’t make any moves without first talking about them”. You got to love that… You know that bad situation you find yourself in or have found yourself in at some point…yeah, the one you still can’t seem to explain, figure out or come to grips with. Well let me ask you something friend…did you speak to your PARTNER before you made your move? Oh you might think you are going it alone but in reality friend, you do have a PARTNER. A PARTNER who should be front and center at every meeting, a PARTNER who needs to be on every conference call, a PARTNER who wants to be involved in all of the intimate details of life…so from this point forward do make sure you include HIM. Most importantly, let your PARTNER have the final say because the move HE makes…will always be in your best interest. You got to love that… Make today beautiful friend…
