I get many of messages each week asking what makes us different from the other headbands out there that looks like ours. While our design can easily be duplicated, our fabric is not. :) For years I was like most of you; frustrated by headbands that would not stay on my head, without causing a headache. Four years ago, I set out to create a headband that would not only keep up with my workouts, but also be fashionable enough to take me from the gym to preschool pick up. I quickly discovered that fabric was the key! While I love the entrepreneurial spirit, one of the misconceptions of those trying to recreate our halos is the idea that any stretchy fabric will do. Because nylon/compression material is widely available, stretchy and available in tons of different colors and patterns, it is often used to duplicate our halos. While this fabric is fabulous for a compression running pant, it doesnt really belong around our heads. The slippery nylon often causes headaches, slips, and is not breathable. Some are trying to compensate for these issues with different sizing options. Admittedly, I also tried this type of material when I was getting started as well, but quickly realized that it was the fabric that was causing my most common headband issues. So after endless searching, samples and tests, I finally found a fabric mill {in the fabulous USA} to create and custom print our crazy-soft, nylon-free, technical-wicking fabric. Thanks to so many that have spread the “halo love”, not only can these now be found in some of the coolest boutiques, studios and salons around the US, but it has also allowed us to create jobs, support our families and give back to causes that make the world a better place! All that to say, Urbanhalo Headbands are often imitated, but never duplicated! xo, Jen myurbanhalo
