I got a call this morning before I even got home from taking the girls to school only to hear that my daughter was a problem for the school this morning by wearing supper shorty shorts. Im sorry but theses are not super shorty shorts to me! I do understand they have to have a dress code, but I saw nothing wrong with what my daughter wore today. Ill admit I was and still am pretty upset that worrying about what my child wore to school was their main priority! I send my children to school for an education not to be watched and judged on what they wear, first of all my daughter is under 100 pounds (not by choice either), she has super long legs so she has a hard time finding things to fit. She is a great young lady who takes herself and her education seriously! Ive never taught my children to be disrespectful and I personal try to follow my own advise but this morning I almost lost it! If Mitchell high school would worry more about serious problems within that school system and giving our children the education they deserve and less about what certain children have on then maybe more kids around here would want to go to college, want a better life, enjoy school more, teach positive things! I thank God that Hayley is a smart girl with very high goals for her self and doesnt let things like this bring her down! Ive only had one other problem personally with Mitchell high that upset me as much as this. My son as a freshman got suspended for three days his freshman year for placing a bible inside a known atheists bookbag and they said it was bullying and harassment! I was proud of him personally! But if they are going to make clothing a big deal then Im going to be watching everytime Im there to see how many girls are allowed to wear shorts above what they say is allowed! Sorry for my rant but I thought my daughter looked nice and wasnt inappropriate at all and i as her mother just wanted to stand up in her defense. Im not trying to offend anyone but my main point of this post is, they need to worry about more important things and problems within that school! If they are so worried about what kids wear then get them uniforms so everyone can be equal and they wont have to have clothes patrol and they can move on to actual real problems! I want to be proud of our school system but its stupid little things like this that I as a parent am truly disappointed and let down! The way I see it is if I buy it then I approve and until they buy my kids clothes they shouldnt have the right to say anything unless its inappropriate then I would completely understand!
