At this very moment, there are thousands of communications professionals trying to figure out how to replicate the ice bucket challenge for every cause in the world. Additionally, campaigns like the ALS challenge are popular as long as the are novel, and trying to engender engagement from people who have already participated, frankly, isnt likely to work because it is old news. We also believe that some of the success of the ice bucket challenge is due to its contrast against the negative news cycle about Ebola and ISIS this summer.
