I got asked at the marina today how I was so sure that Scout would be able to handle the conditions we ended up seeing at the Texas 200. (this guy was a powerboater) I told him I had already sailed her in as heavy of winds for hours at a time right here in Havasu....all winter long. He kinda gave me the BS look..... ahhhh....I love YOUTUBE...and smartphones... I dialed this up and said here.... take a look . youtu.be/R7dziswouKA I had lots of doubts about my own ability for the stamina needed for a 200 mile long trip...but I was damn certain that the boat was up to it if I was. If anyone out there is contemplating doing a trip like the T-200 for the first time...I cant recommend enough...GET OUT THERE NOW and start ringing that boat and your skills out. Sail in every kind of conditions you can, stepping up in safe increments. On Day 1 when it came time to try to lend a helping hand to another sailor in well over 20-25 knots....knowing how Scout and I worked together and what to expect from her helped me get the most out of her.
