I got into agility almost 14 years ago as a way to help an extra shy Uncle Bear. I stay in agility because my little Reddawg loves it. I am usually in a class with only a few dogs so place 1st or second....but not that many Qs because of a fast dog and slow brain. :) After seeing the acupuncture vet yesterday and being told that Bryn should never weave or jump over 8 because of back issues, it makes me sad to see so much focus on the placement and a Q. Some of my most memorable runs took didnt result in a Q...little reddogs (4 vet dog) deciding that she knew the course better than I did...but running it in a time that would place with the big dogs (20+ proficient)....or the courses where she barely made her course time (she has the most time) because I couldnt get my act together. When Bryn got her novice tunnelers title, I dont even remember how she placed. I just remeber that she would have qualified at the elite level. Really, its about having fun with your dogs. If you arent having fun, then no title or Q will ever be enough! I value every run because tomorrow is not guaranteed!
