I got the # 13. So here are 13 things you may not know about me...Like my status and I will Give you a #............ 1.) I am trained in Wildfire suppression. Firefighting efforts in wildland areas requires different techniques, equipment, and training from the structure fire fighting. Working in conjunction with specially designed firefighting aircraft a trained wildfire crew suppress flames, construct firelines, and extinguish flames and areas of heat to protect resources and natural wilderness. I have never actually used my training but I enjoyed the adventure. 2.) I am a wildlife rehabilitator. I have been treating the unfortunate wildlife for over 20 years now. The goal of wildlife rehabilitation is to provide professional care to sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals so ultimately they can be returned to their natural habitat. 3.) I attended the UW-Stevens Point. Graduated with a degree in Captive Wildlife Management & Biology. 4.) I studied abroad for a summer to study the environment in other countries---Germany, Poland, France, Switzerland and Italy. 5.) I helped with a first timber cruise in the Black Forest in Germany. The timber cruise is the beginning of a process that will lead to a forest harvest and then its timber. 6.) I, along with my friends tasted the rainbow of colors of beer in Munich and Bavarias traditional beer garden. Munich, Germany is home to almost 200 beer gardens. 7.) I toured Auschwitz concentration camp. This was a network of concentration and extermination camps built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II. It consisted of Auschwitz I (the base camp); Auschwitz II–Birkenau (the extermination camp); Auschwitz III–Monowitz (a labor camp to staff an IG Farben factory), and 45 satellite camps. These images from Auschwitz-Birkenau will never be erased from my mind. 8.) With all my animal back ground and knowledge, it was only 2 weeks ago that I helped take in my first orphaned domesticated animal. A mini-donkey now named Buttercup. 9.) Right out of High School I chose to go into Nursing. Not a bad career choice but not the right choice for me. I decided not to attend and took a job at Piggly Wiggly in Portage. 10.) I have a great passion for photography. Though I am not very good at it, I LOVE TAKING PICTURES. 11.) I worked for the State of Wisconsin as an LTE for the Game Farm in Poynette. An average of 50,000 pheasants are raised at the game and released annually at public hunting grounds in Wisconsin. 12.) Oh speaking of the game farm and the MacKenzie Environmental Education Center, the first pair of raccoons I rehabilitated were on exhibit there for many years. 13.) Even thought I have been to many foreign countries in my travels I only seen a handful of states in the US.
