I grew up believing that the world is just, people largely good, - TopicsExpress

I grew up believing that the world is just, people largely good, and that those who commit bad acts are eventually punished, whether by justice or karma... Ive long since let go of such childish fancies, but have yet to find a more-positive and realistic world view with which to replace it. The fact is, I see evil in the mouths of those who proclaim themselves righteous. I witness the destruction of the earth and the inaction of those in power to stop it. I see blatant disregard for common decency and courtesy, both large and small, but especially online. I see complaining about the results of the midterm elections from people who did not bother to vote. I see powerful men (regardless of race) abusing others once, then yet again through victim shaming. I see a public who denounces said victims as publicity seekers or whores, yet cant wait to see what Kim Kardashian is up to. I see unarmed black kids shot dead, yet am told it had nothing to do with race and that justice will prevail. I see countless shootings, yet no action on gun control. I see poverty, yet am told that wealth trickles down. While I could go on and on, in short, I am pretty much disgusted by most of what I see around me. It is hard to move on in life with such negativity omnipresent. Still, Ill hear the kids laugh, or spend time in the woods, or have a nice lunch with a friend, and peace is somehow restored. Sadly, I cant say I believe in a collective humanity anymore. But I do believe in personal responsibility. I can choose what steps I take, each and every day. I have it within me to make a difference, big or small, for positive or negative. But each action needs to be the right one. So put your anger into action: stand up, speak your truth, and let your voices be heard.
