I guess I should count myself lucky. Yet, today, a year since Yolanda, it is difficult to accept that, after so long, our people continue to suffer from what has clearly been gross neglect from an insensitive government. It is impossible to imagine how much worse it could have been if not for the international and local aid organizations, many of whom continue to stay on and help survivors get back on their feet. I can only hope that the government finds it in itself to admit its shortcomings and make up for these. As for me, I have promised to continue helping my people in the way I know best, write their stories in the hope they get all the help they need and deserve.
