I had a great day in Limerick city on Sunday, watching the Granny in action. For those who dont know, the Granny is a giant puppet, created and operated by Royal De Luxe, and it took over Limerick at the weekend, as part of our City Of Culture festivities. It was amazing to see it in action up-close -- its operated by a team of Liliputians who hurl themselves through the air, hauling on ropes, to bring it to life. I followed the Granny through the streets for a while (didnt get any photos of that, as I was too gobsmacked to think of it), before watching her make her final procession in her bed at the end, from the balconies of the Park Magic building. I even managed to squeeze in some strangling while I was there -- Daisy and David were the unfortunate victims!!
