I had a number of Iranian housemates, studio mates and friends between 1978 and 1994 (before I moved to Hawai‘i). The country fascinates me and Ive wanted to visit the cradle of civilization since those friends introduced me to the arts - and politics - of the country. Many went back for the revolution, some escaped from it. Weve all lost track of each other but it makes me very sad that Ill probably never have the chance to visit what is certainly a wonderful culture. I hope that our peoples will soon rise above religion, politics and racism to recognize the humanity that we share in common on this little planet before we destroy it.
